Beginning of the Second Semester

Schools in Academy School District 20 are reopening after the winter break. For the final half of the first semester, schools went fully synchronous due to the many COVID-19 cases that impacted the school year. Now that it is January, schools will reopen. Many students have switched over to 100% online and synchronous, and many have decided to continue with hybrid learning.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 cases are still rising. How will this impact the second semester? With this issue, the district has taken more precautions and created multiple plans to help keep the semester stable.

Athletics

According to many students, athletics is one of the best extracurriculars in high school. These students are looking forward to another semester, hoping the athletics are not cancelled. With the outbreak, many sports were moved to different seasons, impacting their schedules and events. With this, we asked students how they are feeling about second semester athletics.

A student at Rampart High School stated,I am excited for the soccer season. Currently, we are doing preseason workouts at home to condition and prepare for the season. It was unfortunate that our season was moved to March, but I am glad that I have more time to improve to help the team.

Another student stated,I cannot wait for athletics to begin. I have been waiting for the season after we got stuck at home. I have been working hard for my sport to hopefully improve and get any athletic scholarships. But I have also been focusing on school a lot more to grow academically. I hope everyone stays safe and healthy though. We do not want to rush things. So we should try our best to keep everything stable and keep working hard. Like Professor X once said in X-Men Days of Future Past, Just because someone stumbles and loses their path, does not mean they are lost forever.

Stay Safe

We are glad that students are looking forward to the second semester. We wish everyone well, and remember to STAY HOME and stay safe.
